Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 48 hours per week
Patient Ratio: 1:5-7

Job Description

• Work on a 5S Medical-Surgical unit
• Schedule includes weekdays and weekends
• Start date: ASAP
• EMR system used: Cerner
• Scrubs are not provided
• Blocked schedule: unit will try to accommodate requests but cannot guarantee

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks must be current and updated as required
• Education verification and RN license verification must be included in submission
• Proof of 2 clinical references within the past year required
• Skills checklist updated annually, specific to specialty
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD within 1 year or equivalent)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (preferred)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations within 2 years (signed declination accepted if negative/low/equivocal)
  • Hepatitis B titer, 3-series vaccine, or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccinations within 2 years (signed declination accepted if negative/low/equivocal)
  • COVID vaccine or declination required
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 13 – Apr 1); declinations not permitted without exemption approval
• NIH Stroke Certification and 8 CEU hours of stroke education required annually
• Color blindness testing required
• Competency exams and core training modules must be completed as applicable
• Facility-specific learning modules (Cerner training, ReadySet surveys, Care Learning Modules) must be completed prior to orientation/start date
• Badge photo required prior to clearance
• Background drug screen consent form and non-disclosure of confidential information form must be completed prior to start
• Attendance expectation: no more than 2-3 call-offs allowed during contract
