Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Rotating every other holiday

Unit Details

• Neuro ICU
• 18 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2

Required Qualifications

• RN
• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• ACLS
• Ventriculostomy
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification
• Ventilators
• Arterial lines
• Central lines
• tPA
• Acute stroke management
• Post craniectomy
• Must be able to titrate drips

Preferred / Helpful Experience

• None stated

Clinical Setting Notes

• Common patient types include ventrics and strokes with or without TPA
• Travelers float first
• May float to any unit in the hospital, including intermediate and general floors
• Charge nurse may take an assignment depending on staffing
• Tele tech is staffed on every shift
• RNs read and interpret strips
• RT equipment is present, and RNs are expected to do more than troubleshoot
• Nurse aides/patient care techs are on the unit with a 9:1 ratio

• Requested time off
• Negative drug screen for all panels
