Registered Nurse - OR (Surgery Unit)

Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Overview

Surgery unit with 10 beds
Patient ratio: 1:1
Unit staffing includes manager, board runner, holding nurse, surgical attendants, anesthesia tech
Equipment used: Hana bed, DaVinci XI (550 robotic surgeries per year), MAKO, Velys hip & knee systems
Documentation system: Meditech
Operating hours: 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM (elective cases)
Call shifts:
- Weekdays: 2 first call and 2 second call shifts
- Weekends: 1 weekend call per month (48-hour call)
- Call hours: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (first call), 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM (second call)
Average surgical cases per day: 25-35
Work environment described as friendly with advanced technology

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kentucky
Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
ACLS certification
BLS certification
De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting

Procedures Performed on Unit

Orthopedics (over 1300 total joint surgeries per year)
General surgery
Urology
Gynecology
ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat)

Scheduling & Policies

Call required: 1 weekend per month, plus weekday first and second call shifts
No floating policy applicable
