Overview

  • Level IV NICU
  • Fargo, North Dakota
  • 13-week contract
  • 40-bed unit
  • 12-hour day/night rotating shifts
  • Every other weekend required
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:2 for critical and intermediate infants; 3:1 for infants who are growing and feeding

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of NICU experience
  • Active North Dakota RN license or Compact RN license
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • NRP certification
  • Ability to administer medications through a PICC line
  • Ability and willingness to float to PICU and PEDS
  • Level IV NICU experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC experience

Unit Details

  • Accredited by the American Academy of Pediatrics
  • Uses conventional ventilators (Draeger), high frequency ventilators, nitric oxide, cool cap, MedFusion pumps, Smart pumps, Spacelab monitors, Epic charting, MAK for medications, and Accudose
  • Training includes Epic orientation and 2 days with a buddy to learn unit norms and patient acuity expectations

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to neonates
  • Perform assessments, diagnosis, care planning, intervention, evaluation, and charting
  • Assist with procedures including intubation, spinal taps, PICC line placement, IV starts, and admissions
  • Care for IVs, umbilical lines, CPAP, nasal cannula, oral and IV medications, OG and NG feedings, and G-tubes

Additional Notes

  • Travelers living within 60 miles are not accepted
  • Local travel rate applies to candidates living 60 to 80 miles from the facility
  • Candidates must badge in and out
  • Child-friendly scrubs with role-specific colored pants are required
  • Submission must note whether the clinician has ever worked for Sanford Health; prior employment requires an end date at least 6 months before submission
