Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)

Job Description
- Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department (ED) facility.
- Patient ratios may vary due to high patient volume; expect ratios from 1:4 up to 1:5 or more during surge periods.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, with experience within the last year.
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course).
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).
- Harassment Prevention Training.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency Contact Form (required prior to start).
- Background checks including:
- 7-year search of locations lived/worked/school.
- Nationwide sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (annual).
- Education verification.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (N95 or equivalent respirators).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted).
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles) – positive titer or 2 vaccine doses.
- Mumps – positive titer or 2 vaccine doses.
- Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccine doses.
- Hepatitis B – titer, declination, or completed vaccine series.
- Varicella – positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history of chickenpox.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Sept 1 – Mar 31).
- Pneumonia vaccine or declination.
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state requirement, annual).
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency for ER staff.
- Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to first shift.
- Facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, welcome packet review, and Omnicell form signed by nursing staff.
- Two professional references within the last 3 years (for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles).
Additional Notes
- Locals are accepted for this position.
- Patient ratios may be stretched during high volume periods; flexibility is required.
- All certifications must include front and back of cards; back must be signed where applicable.
- If a candidate fails the EKG competency exam, a remediation process is in place before retesting.
- OSHA facial hair standards apply when wearing respirators; PAPR units may be provided if fit test fails and units are available.
