Job Overview
- Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Hours per week: 36
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Setting: Operating room cardiac surgery
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- CVOR (3 years of experience)
- CVOR experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ability to scrub and circulate cardiac surgery
- Experience with CABGs (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts)
- Experience with aortic and mitral valve repairs and replacements
- Experience with heart transplants
- Experience with cardiac dissections
- Experience with LVADs (Left Ventricular Assist Devices)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vascular/thoracic surgery such as EVAR, TEVAR, TCAR, and open AAA
Schedule & Work Expectations
- On-call required: 5 call shifts per month
- Weekend requirement: on call
- No holiday requirement
- May float to other OR services such as General, Urology, or ENT when cardiac volume is down
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are accepted with appropriate experience
- Scrubs are provided
- Epic is used for charting

Pros
Some of the nurses in the MICU are some of the best people I have ever met. Very high acuity patients but I learned a lot. Amazing teamwork and camaraderie
Cons
The facility is literally falling apart and staffing is terrible sometimes. Management is not as great and supportive as it used to be. Patient population can be difficult to work with (lots of ETOH, withdrawal, ODs, etc)
