Occupational Therapist - Acute Care Hospital

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Acute Inpatient Occupational Therapist
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
  • Weekend Requirement: Possibly 1-2 weekends per month
  • Holiday Requirement: As needed
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapist experience within the last year
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Facility & Work Environment

  • Hospital-based acute care unit
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrub color: Red scrub top, black scrub pants
  • Parking: Free
  • Local radius: 60 miles (locals not accepted)
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including international searches
  • Employment application/resume and proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start required
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts may be required as placeholder if education verification is pending
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold not accepted)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands of position
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID vaccination not required but highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for patient-facing roles
  • Facility-specific forms and acknowledgments must be completed prior to start, including:
    • Assignment Acknowledgment
    • Code of Conduct
    • Employee Confidentiality Agreement
    • HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
    • Systems User Agreement
    • User Access Request
    • Job Description acknowledgment
    • Orientation modules (approx. 4 hours) must be completed before orientation; failure to complete results in being sent home
    • Passport-style photo for badge
