Job Description

Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under supervision.
Provide care for Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.
Evaluate patient respiratory care results according to care plans.
Prepare, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment; report malfunctions.
Disassemble, clean, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
Complete assessments on ventilator patients and others receiving respiratory care.
Obtain and analyze arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases.
Accurately document care and chart in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Recommend timely interventions and communicate findings to physicians.
Assist with stocking respiratory care supplies on inpatient units.
Evaluate patients for respiratory therapy in inpatient units and emergency room.

Required Qualifications

Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Illinois
Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
