Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Anniston, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Summary

• Emergency Room Registered Nurse position working every other week (EOW)
• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• High acuity, high volume ER with combined Adult and Pediatric patient population (Neonates through Geriatrics)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• 30-minute lunch break required, no skipped meals

Patient Population

• Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics

Required Skills & Experience

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Clinical skills including:

  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care and management
  • IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors
  • Procedural sedation administration
  • Orthopedic trauma care
  • Identifying and reporting pediatric abuse
  • Managing pediatric near drowning, seizures, and related conditions

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Fit testing (mask) within 12 months of start

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years, including social security trace, nationwide criminal, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification (official transcript, diploma, or third-party verification)
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or PPD) within 12 months; follow-up chest x-ray if positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination, history, or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Skills checklist annually

Additional Information

• Locals within a 60-mile radius considered
• Must adhere to traveler attendance policy prior to start
• 30-minute lunch break strictly enforced

This position offers a challenging ER environment with a diverse patient population and requires strong clinical skills and certifications. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
