Job Summary

The Clinical Staff Educator provides education and instruction focused on clinical staff, acting as a resource for healthcare education and training programs. This role supports the development of educational initiatives in collaboration with department managers and clinical nurse coordinators. The position involves proficiency or development of proficiency in simulation training using mannequins and simulation software. The educator works closely with the Quality Management team to promote continuous improvement and identify educational opportunities.


Essential Job Functions

  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently and independently, prioritizing duties as needed.
  • Plan, direct, and control educational activities.
  • Evaluate educational programs and participant learning, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and handle information appropriately.
  • Foster teamwork and cooperation through effective communication.
  • Demonstrate empathy and compassion in interactions.
  • Support hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in required education related to quality and accreditation programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • CNOR certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of educator experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Operating Room (OR) experience.

Additional Skills & Abilities

  • Basic understanding of computer networks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Experience with fax machines and copiers.
  • Typing speed of at least 45 WPM with accuracy.
  • Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems is helpful.
  • Ability to provide care considering patients’ age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial needs.
  • Ability to write educational objectives for healthcare employees.
