Shift Details
- Day shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
- Total 36 hours per week
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Certifications (may be required based on unit)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (AHA only)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (AHA/AAP only, unit dependent)
- Chemotherapy certification (unit dependent)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card (unit dependent; training provided if needed)
Work Requirements
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Floating to other units as needed
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
Candidate Eligibility
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Local candidates within 75 miles are eligible
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- I-9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Social Security card (if used for I-9)
- Background check within 90 days including:
- SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
- OFAC sanctions list search within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccination or positive titer (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (required annually, no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Two professional references from employment within last 12 months (one must be a supervisor)
- Employment application with 7 years of work history
- Annual skills checklist update
- Competency exam specific to unit
- Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge at orientation (except Hospice RNs, Medical Assistants, and RRTs)
Orientation & Onboarding
- Candidates must set up a Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Online modules must be completed before orientation
- Competency checklists (CBOs) must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
- First Day Instructions (FDI) provided prior to orientation week
