Location: Winnebago, Nebraska
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department, serving a population of approximately 10,000 people. The ED operates 24/7 with a physician on duty at all times. Responsibilities include assessing and triaging patients, delivering comprehensive nursing care to acutely or critically ill patients, administering medications and treatments, operating specialized medical equipment, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and initiating patient education plans.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess emergency patients and triage based on history, physical assessment, and chief complaint.
  • Administer medications, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, and other prescribed therapeutic measures.
  • Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment.
  • Provide wound care including cleaning and bandaging.
  • Document all care accurately and efficiently in the appropriate format.
  • Maintain professionalism while managing multiple urgent tasks.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs; may involve heavy lifting and patient transfers.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and full range of motion in extremities required.
  • Fine motor skills necessary.

Mental and Language Requirements

  • Proficient reading, writing, and calculation skills.
  • Strong social interaction and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Fluent in English with effective verbal and written communication skills.
