Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Job Summary

• Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Start Date: ASAP
• First-time travel nurses accepted
• Must be open to working weekends (every other weekend required, may exceed to meet unit needs)
• May be required to float to mother-baby unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 1.5 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Expert experience performing sterile vaginal exams independently without supervision
• Required Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN certification
  • AWHONN Advanced certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to float to mother-baby unit as needed
• Scheduling preferences may be considered but are not guaranteed
• Pending licenses are not accepted
• Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
• Facility provides free parking
• Facility uses Meditech for charting

Certifications & Competencies

• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required (AWHONN or NCC-EFM accepted) or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam in Relias
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS (Workramp)
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), IV certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification as applicable (verify per clinical track)

Background and Compliance

• Comprehensive background checks including SSN trace, death master index, nationwide and county checks, education verification, and more
• State-specific searches and attestations as applicable
• Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
• Annual completion of Workramp modules for regulatory and specialty requirements
• Float policy acknowledgment required

Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital with 320 staffed beds
• Scrub color coding by role (RN: Royal Blue; L&D/OR: provided)
• Night shift with 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week
• Likely weekend work exceeding every other weekend to meet unit needs

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
• On-call is not required
• Guaranteed hours: facility may call off once per two-week pay period

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who are comfortable working independently in a fast-paced acute care setting, have strong EPIC skills, and hold required certifications including AWHONN. The role requires flexibility with weekend shifts and floating to mother-baby units.
