Respiratory Therapist II - Pediatrics

Overview

• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist II role.
• Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff.
• May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina.
• 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience.
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
• Respiratory Therapist experience.
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, or CPFT.
• Experience in an acute care setting.
• Experience with high frequency oscillator ventilation within the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Peds, NICU, and/or PICU in a hospital setting for at least 2 years.
• EPIC familiarity.
• ECMO experience.
• Oscillator experience within the last 5 years.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Airway management.
• Mechanical ventilator management.
• Oxygen therapy.
• Aerosol therapy.
• Respiratory care procedures and treatments.
• Basic bedside pulmonary function testing.
• Breathing exercises.
• Arterial punctures.
• Aspiration of established airways.
• Tracheostomy care.
• Tracheostomy tube changes.
• Endotracheal intubations and extubations.
• Pulmonary Function Testing as needed.
• Ventilator setup, function verification, monitoring, and weaning techniques.
• Carolina Air Care transport of pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per UNC Air Care Protocol.
• Respiratory care and advanced practice procedures per UNC Air Care Protocol, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, intravenous insertion, Chest Tube insertion, Needle Decompression, ABG's, and Blood Glucose monitoring.
• ECMO management for cardiac and respiratory support of patients when working with ECMO.
