Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER)
Location
- Mountain Home, Idaho
Assignment Details
- Travel assignment length: 13 weeks
- Shift length: 12-hour shifts
- Shift times: Primarily 7 PM to 7 AM; some shifts 12 PM to 12:30 AM
- Weekend requirement: Minimum 4 weekends per 6-week period
- Holiday requirement: As needed
- No call or standby requirement
- No floating required
Facility & Unit Information
- Critical Access Hospital Emergency Department
- 10 beds and 2 trauma bays
- Trauma level: Critical Access
- No separate fast track area
- Separate triage room; travelers will perform triage
- ER holds intermixed within ER
- One “safe room” for psych/seclusion; sitters available
- Security guard on site 24/7 (may be absent if guard calls out)
- Average ER patient volume: ~35 patients per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- ED team: 1 MD (24/7), 1 APP (12 PM–8 PM)
- Charge nurse coverage 24/7 (charge nurse does not take patients)
- House supervisor on nights
- Support staff: 1 CNA, sitters available as needed
- Respiratory therapist coverage 24/7 for hospital; manages ABGs, breathing treatments, EKG assistance
- RNs read cardiac monitor strips; SpaceLabs monitors used
- X-ray and CT available in ER; radiology transports patients unless critical
- Phlebotomy assistance available; RNs usually draw labs
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Treats both pediatric and adult patients
- Common cases: chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, lacerations, STEMI, stroke (stabilize and transfer), trauma (mostly walk-ins), military patients (if not seen on base)
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience preferred
- Well-rounded ER experience desired
Common Skills & Procedures
- Experience with procedural sedation and common ER drips including TNK
- Ability to triage patients independently
Orientation & Dress Code
- Unit-specific orientation: 2 days
- Scrub color/dress code: Any color allowed
Additional Notes
- Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule; candidates must live outside this radius to be considered
