Job Details

  • Location: Dededo, Guam
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days or nights (based on unit needs)
  • On-call: No
  • Float: Yes, within scope as needed by unit
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum every other weekend, based on unit needs
  • Holidays: Working holidays required; dates determined by unit, no requests for specific holidays allowed
  • Locals: Not accepted (candidates residing in Guam are considered local and will not be considered)
  • Facility Type: Acute Care, Adult Trauma Level II
  • Total Staffed Beds: 132

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years ICU experience required (first-time travelers must meet this)
  • Experience with 1:2 patient ratios
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • IV therapy experience
  • Neurological experience
  • Respiratory/Thoracic experience

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Licensure: Compact or Guam RN license required at time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
    • BLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
    • Conscious Sedation (required for ICU, ER, and Cath Lab)
    • TCRN preferred but not required
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP for ER)

Special Requirements

  • Passport in hand required
  • Must be able to work holidays as scheduled
  • Return to Office (RTO) requests must be approved and included in contract before start date; max 3 consecutive days and 7 total days allowed
  • Candidates should plan to arrive at least one day before start date due to long travel times and time zone differences
  • Scrub color: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for scrubs and jackets
  • Charting system: Allscripts/Sunrise
  • Parking: Free with registration and decal

Onsite Testing & Training

  • Drug Calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams required onsite during orientation
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Facility-specific nursing modules (8-12 hours) must be completed by compliance deadline, including:
    • Pressure Injury Training
    • NIH Stroke Scale Training
    • Alaris IV Pumps
    • Pyxis CareFusion
  • Additional facility-specific trainings and certifications as required

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year (facility does not require but Aya recommends)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, must use approved masks or complete onsite fit test
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history)
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Sept 1 - June 30) or approved medical exemption
  • COVID vaccination strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver form

References & Work History

  • 2 professional references required for travel, allied, and per diem acute care roles
  • Work history verification for last 10 years required; attestations accepted if verification unavailable

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with at least 2 years of critical care experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced trauma environment with 1:2 patient ratios and holiday/weekend shifts. Candidates must have all required licenses and certifications in hand prior to application and be prepared for facility-specific training and testing.
