Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Patient Ratio: Experience required with 1:6; must be able to handle 1:5 to 1:7 on MedSurg
Float Requirement: Yes
Charting System: Must be proficient in EPIC
Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted
Local Candidates: Not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles away

Job Description

• Specialty in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing with on-unit monitoring
• Care for complex medical patients including orthopedic overflow and long-term complex cases
• Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Management of pacemakers (temporary and permanent)
• Feeding tube care and management
• Blood product administration
• Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care and management
• Phlebotomy and IV starts
• Heparin protocols
• Ortho trauma and total joint replacements
• Surgical drains management
• Respiratory support including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care including Wound Vac

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• Experience managing patient ratios of 1:6 on MedSurg units
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Facility & Work Environment

• Tertiary care hospital setting
• 528 staffed beds
• Uniform scrub color: navy on bottom, navy or white on top

This position is ideal for RNs with solid MedSurg and Telemetry experience who are comfortable managing complex patients and multiple lines/devices in a fast-paced tertiary care environment during night shifts. Prior travel experience is not required.
