Job Description
- Perform pediatric echocardiograms using a full pediatric protocol including Subxiphoid, Parasternal, Suprasternal, Right Parasternal, and Apical views.
- Must have experience with congenital abnormalities through approximately 1,000 pediatric echoes.
- Shift: Monday to Thursday, 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM).
- Weekend work as needed.
- On-call required Monday night through Friday morning (5:30 PM – 7:00 AM).
- Floating is not required.
- Blocked scheduling may be considered by the unit manager.
- Locals are not accepted.
- Return to office (RTO) restrictions require unit manager approval.
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week; facility may call off up to 6 times during the 13-week assignment.
Required Experience and Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
- Cardiac Sonographer experience within the last year.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID (passport alone not accepted)
- Background checks including 7-year history, SSN trace, criminal and sex offender searches within 30 days of start
- Education verification (diploma or transcripts acceptable)
- Fingerprinting required (Arizona state fingerprint card) for Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer
- Employment application with 3 years of work history and documented gaps over 30 days
- Two professional references (one from most recent employer within 1 year)
- Radiation badge request form required prior to start
- Facility-specific job description form must be completed before start
- Security question form and travel information verification must be signed prior to start
- Professional attire and appearance policy acknowledgment required
- Substance abuse screening policy acknowledgment required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask (N95) within 1 year, updated annually; onsite fit testing available if needed
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred within 10 years or declination)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, 3-dose series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or Tspot) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required for past positives
- Drug testing (10-panel) within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required for 2025-2026 season; mask required if declined
- COVID vaccination or declination form required
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 1 year of start (minimum 80% score)
- Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) updated annually (not required for this specialty)
- Color blind testing required (100% passing score)
- Fall prevention competency exam (required for RNs, not applicable here)
This position is ideal for a pediatric echo tech with solid experience in congenital abnormalities, who is comfortable with on-call duties and working a 4x10 schedule in a Level I trauma teaching hospital setting.
