Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Call or standby may be required if census is low

Unit Overview

• Medical-surgical and cardiac observation unit
• 21 beds, typically staffed for 18
• Average nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS and ACLS
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Experience with set-rate Cardizem and Amiodarone
• Unexpired driver’s license must be included with submission

Patient Population

• Pre/post cath
• Chest pain rule-outs on heparin drips
• COPD
• CHF
• Pacemakers
• Arrhythmias
• General medical-surgical diagnoses

Additional Skills

• Experience with TR Bands is a plus

Floating

• May float anywhere in the hospital, including ICU and stepdown, within skillset

Orientation

• 1 day of computer training
• 1 day of floor shadowing with a preceptor
• Independent on the third day

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs
• Scrub jacket only if it is an actual scrub jacket; hoodies and sweatshirts are not allowed
