Job Summary

Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Emergency Department.
Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
Assist in maintaining a financially stable unit.
Promote professional development emphasizing evidence-based practice and education.
Supervise licensed and non-licensed staff.
Apply the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
Focus on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
Mentor and precept staff.

Key Responsibilities

Perform assessments and reassessments according to policy or patient condition.
Make sound independent clinical decisions.
Initiate, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care.
Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Utilize resources appropriately to support patient and organizational needs.
Monitor and document responses to clinical interventions.
Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient/family needs during stay and at discharge.
Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Facilitate teamwork and mentor staff.
Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts.
Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kentucky
2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience
Emergency Department experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
PALS
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
