Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Med/Surg Telemetry RN with potential to float to units J1-2, J33, and Emergency Department caring for the same patient population.
  • Rotating shifts: 3x12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm, Night: 7:00pm–7:30am). Shift rotation may be required to meet operational needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Telemetry experience of at least 1.5 years, with experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions; latex allergy notification required if applicable.
  • Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs require approval if fit test fails due to facial hair.
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titers with booster if needed
    • Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require agency approval)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant screens not accepted).
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test).
  • Baseline competency exams at orientation: medication administration (SafeMedicate) and ECG interpretation.
  • Modules and onboarding must be completed before clearance to start.
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history, including 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
  • Two professional references from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Must pass facility-required competency exams and skills checklists annually.

Notes

  • Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since their last assignment at this facility may be exempt from some orientation exams and module requirements.
  • Candidates must be prepared for possible shift rotation and holiday work.
  • Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked.
