Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Job Overview

Backfill position in the Operating Room (OR) for a 13-week travel contract
Schedule: Saturday through Monday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
No on-call required
Weekend and Monday shifts included
Approximately 36 hours per week

Unit Information

Operating Room with 22 OR suites
Not a trauma hospital
Staff: About 80 total, including RNs and Certified Surgical Technicians (CSTs)
Patient ratio: 1:1
One team in-house 24/7 for night shift coverage
Equipment includes robotics and specialties such as cardiac, vascular, neuro, spine, oncology, orthopedics, plastics, urology, and gynecology
Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
Permanent positions available on the unit

Typical Procedures

Appendectomies (Appy’s)
Cholecystectomies (Chole’s)
Spine fusions
Total joint replacements
Craniotomies
Mastectomies
DIEP flaps

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in multiple service lines including ortho, neuro, general surgery, and robotic surgery

Work Environment & Culture

Team-oriented, flexible, self-directed, and positive attitude preferred
Low staff turnover with successful transitions of contract staff to permanent roles
Supportive team environment with recognition programs and departmental awards
Scrubs provided; closed-toe, non-slip, heeled shoes required

Shift & Call Details

Call requirements: 4 to 5 shifts and 4 to 5 late shifts per 6-week period minimum
Weekend shifts available
