RN CVICU

Overview

• Travel assignment in Charleston, South Carolina.
• Unit: 65020 ICU.
• 28-bed mixed ICU.
• Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend.
• Travelers are first to float to the emergency department or PCU for PCU or ICU holds.
• Dress code: navy uniform.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• BLS.
• ACLS.
• NIHSS.
• CVICU experience within the last year.
• 3 years of CVICU experience.
• At least 1 year of intensive care unit experience.
• One completed travel assignment.
• Comfort managing patients on the ventilator.
• Proficiency in reading telemetry strips.
• CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) experience.
• Advanced hemodynamics experience.
• Phlebotomy skills.
• Experience with post-operative day 0 CABG patients.
• Experience with Impella devices.
• Experience with balloon pumps.
• Experience with Swan Ganz catheters.
• Experience with EVDs (external ventricular drains).

Preferred

• BSN.
• Advanced Certifications.
• TNCC certification.
• Meditech familiarity.
• Interest in becoming a skilled Neuro ICU nurse or Cardiovascular ICU nurse.
• Ability to train for head and neck flap procedures.

Clinical Setting

• Bedside shift report is used for handoff.
• Equipment includes i-mobile phones and a mobile computer workstation on wheels.
• The unit cares for ICU holds and may manage patients from the emergency department or PCU.
• Procedures and skills on the unit include CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, phlebotomy, breathing treatments, post-op day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage care, EVDs, bolts, Codman, Artic Sun with induced hypothermia, and head and neck flap procedures.
