Neuro ICU Registered Nurse

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Weekly orientations on Mondays, except during holiday weeks
• May be placed on standby for a scheduled shift

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• 2 years of ICU experience in a large facility
• Level I trauma experience
• EVD experience
• Strong neuro assessment skills
• ICP monitoring experience
• 3–6 months of travel experience
• Must have been away from CommonSpirit as permanent staff for 12 months to be considered for a travel assignment

Unit Details

• 32-bed Neuro ICU
• 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Charge nurse available and does not take patients
• Vents supported
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7

Floating

• Required to float between ICU floors and all telemetry units
• May be assigned a 4:1 patient load on telemetry

Additional Notes

• Teaching hospital
• Travelers may be expected to work with nursing students
• Natural hair colors only; no facial piercings
• Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Must have their own vehicle
• Onboarding must be complete by 1:00 PM CST on the Wednesday before start
• Day 1 pass/fail exam required
• SIMs lab is pass/fail and includes Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, with unit-specific exceptions noted in the source
