Registered Nurse, ICU

Overview

• Contract role in Gardner, Massachusetts
• 36 hours per week, nights: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am
• Every other holiday and every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Telemetry experience

Preferred Qualifications

• ICU experience
• CCRN

Role Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care and patient goals
• Provide patient care using standards, protocols, and established policies and procedures
• Provide patient and family teaching and discharge preparation
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others
• Prioritize patient care and respond to emergencies as needed
• Document patient data, interventions, and responses accurately and on time
• Give thorough handoff reports to support continuity of care
• Promote learning for colleagues and self
• Identify patient safety risks and opportunities to reduce errors
• Identify ethical issues in care and develop a plan to address them
• Administer medications and intravenous therapy
• Assess and reassess pain and document response to treatment
• Perform cardiac arrhythmia assessment and EKG interpretation
• Manage thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy
• Support mechanical ventilation and care of intubated patients
• Interpret arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and signs of impaired gas exchange or airway clearance
• Assist with hemodynamic monitoring and arterial artery and central vein cannulation
• Administer vasoactive medications and titrate critical drips
• Provide ongoing assessment in the immediate post-operative phase
• Support recovery from general, regional, spinal, or conscious sedation
• Complete medication reconciliation documentation
• Implement the VAP bundle and escalate deviations for review
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds
