Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Day shift (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Schedule: Weekends may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs
  • Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet recognized
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: Free

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN certification
  • Education: Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Job Requirements & Conditions

  • Scheduling: Requests due to outside employment will not be considered
  • Travel Pairs: Not allowed
  • Local Radius: 50 miles
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per pay period (2 weeks)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • Must have a background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, death master index, nationwide sex offender, FACIS Level 3, education verification, and others as applicable
    • No open/active background hits or multiple DUIs allowed
  • Education Verification: Required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
  • Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually
  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
  • Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
  • Immunizations & Health Requirements:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable documentation
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates, medically cleared for respirator use
  • Fit Mask Testing: Required annually, completed onsite or valid record within 1 year
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required before start

Competencies & Training

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Certification required (AWHONN or NCC-EFM) or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam
  • Annual Regulatory Training: Required via assigned learning management system modules
  • Epic Training: Completion of Epic modules required prior to or shortly after orientation

Additional Notes

  • Must comply with float policy; may be required to float to other nearby facilities
  • No scheduling accommodations for outside employment
  • No travel pairs accepted

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week assignment in a large, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital in California.
