Job Summary
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)

- Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (typically 0640-1910, 3 shifts per week) with potential for one 0940-2210 shift biweekly
- Weekend rotation and weekday on-call required
Clinical Responsibilities
- Care for patients undergoing complex surgeries including:
- Kidney transplant and pancreas transplant
- Gynecology/Oncology procedures (hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair, laparoscopic gynecology, abdominal hysterectomy)
- Urology surgeries (nephrectomy, HOLEP, cystectomy, ureteroscopy)
- Robotic surgeries using Da Vinci Xi system (urological, gynecological, and transplant procedures)
- Organ procurement procedures
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Gynecology/Oncology
- Experience in robotic surgery
- Experience in Urology
- Experience in OB/GYN
- Experience in transplant surgeries
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (AHA) required; renewals must be planned in advance with proof of renewal accepted during processing
- Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) may be required depending on unit specifics (check unit description)
- Facility-specific telemetry testing and pass/fail exams may be required for certain inpatient units (not explicitly stated for this role)
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Comprehensive background check within 90 days prior to start, including:
- Social Security Number trace
- County and nationwide criminal checks
- Sex offender registry check
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID form (state-mandated)
- Ongoing monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems
- Education verification as applicable (RN diploma/degree verification)
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Employment application and skills checklist required annually
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Tuberculosis (TB) testing: IGRA blood test or two-step skin test with documentation; negative chest X-ray if history of positive TB test
- Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – 2 doses or positive titers; medical/religious exemptions allowed with approval
- Varicella – 2 doses or positive titer; medical/religious exemptions allowed
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or documented immunity; declination form required if declining
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption annually during flu season (09/22 – 04/13)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof (at least one adult Tdap)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in Microbiology (if applicable)
- Physical exam recommended to meet agency standards (not required by facility)
- Fit mask testing completed onsite
Facility-Specific Documentation
- Passport-style photo for badge issuance (no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Communicable disease form completed within 90 days of start
- Vaccine exemption forms (medical or religious) for flu, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B as applicable
- Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing if applicable
Work Environment & Schedule
- Operating room setting with exposure to advanced surgical technology and transplant procedures
- 48 hours per week, primarily day shifts with some evening and weekend rotation
- On-call weekday responsibilities
This position is suited for experienced OR RNs with advanced skills in transplant and robotic surgeries, comfortable with a travel contract assignment in Wisconsin.
