Registered Nurse - Pre Op (Travel Assignment)

Location

  • Dallas, Texas

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Unit: Adult Day Surgery
  • Number of Beds: 22
  • Number of Staff: 41
  • Shifts: Day shift only (night shift closed)
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Preop, PreAdmit Testing (PAT), and Holding: 1:1
    • Post Op: 3:1
  • Equipment: Meditech EMR, IV Pumps
  • Typical Procedures: General Surgery, Gynecology, Orthopedic Scopes

Job Description

  • Must be familiar with Meditech EMR system
  • Experience in Day Surgery, Preoperative (Preop), or PreAdmit Testing (PAT) preferred
  • Experience with adult patients prioritized; pediatric experience is ideal but secondary
  • IV starts required
  • Floating areas include Preop, Post Op, and PreAdmit Testing

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Required License

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Texas

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in the specialty

Work Schedule and Policies

  • 36 hours per week
  • Must work 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per schedule period
  • Must be available to work during inclement weather
  • No weekends or on-call required
  • Self-scheduling with flexibility to be moved based on unit needs

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of preoperative experience within the last year
  • Experience with pediatric patients
  • Proficient with MEDITECH EMR system
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
  • American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) multi-state certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
