Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Night Shift)
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Primarily Labor & Delivery (80%) with some Maternal & Baby/Postpartum care (20%)
- Postpartum experience is required
- Weekend rotation/coverage details to be discussed during the interview
- Flexibility for schedule changes is desired by the unit leader
- Minimal Return to Office (RTO) expected
- Must have prior travel experience; local candidates will not be considered
- Backfill position starting in June
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Postpartum experience
- Prior travel nursing experience (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
- Current certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual renewal
- 12-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (facility-specific forms required)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (facility-specific forms required)
- Completion of facility-specific health and safety training, including respirator fit testing (may be completed onsite)
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG screenings (updated annually)
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Copy of valid photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required
- Candidates must sign confidentiality and system access agreements prior to start
- Healthstream training courses assigned on first day of orientation; glucose testing requires completion of return demonstration
- Weekend coverage and schedule flexibility will be discussed during interview
This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs with postpartum experience who are comfortable working night shifts and have prior travel nursing experience.
