Radiology Technician Position

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM


Job Summary

  • Verify patient identification using two identifiers and confirm correct procedure orders.
  • Provide patient care with attention to confidentiality and age-specific needs.
  • Explain procedures, duration, expectations, and desired results to patients to reduce anxiety.
  • Select and adjust technical factors based on patient body habitus, pathology, and body part.
  • Position patients properly and ensure high-quality imaging before forwarding to Radiologists.
  • Assist with C-Arm/Fluoroscopy equipment during pain management procedures.
  • Maintain focus on equipment and patient safety throughout procedures.
  • Complete procedures efficiently based on complexity and patient condition.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technician license in South Carolina.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • ARRT certification.
  • Certified Radiology Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Certified Biomedical Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) certification.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Proof of immunizations or titers with lab results (no declinations accepted) for:
    • MMR (2 immunizations or titer)
    • Hepatitis B (3 vaccinations or titer)
    • Varicella (2 immunizations or titer)
  • COVID-19 vaccination card (fully vaccinated) recommended but optional.
  • Influenza vaccine required September through April (medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case).
  • Tuberculosis screening:
    • 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with timing requirements, or
    • Negative chest X-ray if positive PPD (X-ray within 90 days of start).
  • Annual TB questionnaire and annual negative PPD optional if 2-step PPD not done within past year.
  • Fit test for respirator use recommended within one year of start.

Professional Documentation Required

  • Valid driver’s license or state ID.
  • Social Security card.
  • Resume or professional profile (submission required).
  • Criminal background check within 60 days of start, covering last 7 years and including multiple searches (county, statewide, national, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS trace, education verification).
  • Employment verification for the past 5 years.
  • 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted).
  • Completion of clinical skills checklist prior to start, updated annually.
  • Confirmation of assignment form required.

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
  • Competency with imaging equipment and procedures will be assessed via a skills checklist.
  • Emphasis on patient-centered care and technical proficiency with imaging technology.
