Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in an Adult Trauma/Surgical unit at a Level 1 facility.
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience is required.
  • Trauma experience must be clearly documented in work history.
  • Local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted for this position.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
  • Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with adult patients
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients

Background and Verification Requirements

  • Comprehensive background checks including:
    • County and national criminal background checks covering all locations lived/worked in the last 7 years.
    • Sex offender registry search.
    • Education verification or signed official transcript/diploma as a placeholder.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusion checks within 30 days of start and updated annually.
  • Employment verification covering 7 years, fully completed at least 8 business days prior to start.
  • Two supervisor references verified within 6 months of start; must confirm direct supervision.
  • Employment application must explain any gaps longer than 30 days.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must renew all expiring certifications, competencies, and health documents prior to clearance for the assignment.
  • The facility requires completion of an annual EKG competency certification onsite.
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam must be completed within the first week of booking; failure after two attempts results in cancellation.
  • Candidates must complete all required competency exams and skills checklists through the designated platforms within 1 year of start and maintain current status throughout the contract.
  • This position does not accept local travelers within 100 miles of the facility.
