Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Travel Assignment

Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Nights (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Call Requirements: None
Weekend Schedule: Every third weekend

Unit Overview

Unit Type: Medical/Surgical, Trauma Neuro ICU
Location: 2nd Floor, East Building
Number of Beds: 17
Staffing per Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 6-7 RNs, 1-2 Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), sitters as needed
Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2; up to 1:4 for step-down or bed-hold patients depending on acuity
Equipment Used: Ventilators, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), monitors, IV pumps, etc.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
Medical/Surgical nursing experience
Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Must pass EKG competency for rhythm interpretation

Preferred Qualifications

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) certification

Endotracheal intubation
CRRT management
Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)
Administration of stroke tPA
Foley catheter insertion and care
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Defibrillation and cardioversion
Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) assistance
