MRI Tech - Travel/Contract

Job Description

Perform high-quality MRI examinations on various patient populations following established protocols.
Work under general supervision, reporting to site supervisor and radiology manager.
Duties include general MRI exams and specialized imaging such as implants, elastography, defecography, breast, and cardiac MRI.
Potential float between two nearby outpatient clinic locations.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, primarily 5 shifts of 8 hours (12:30 PM – 9:00 PM).
Alternative shift options considered: 4x10-hour shifts (10:30 AM – 9:00 PM) or 3x12-hour shifts (8:30 AM – 9:00 PM).
Saturday work required 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM on some weeks, with adjusted weekday hours to maintain a 40-hour workweek.
No call or holiday shifts required.

Required Qualifications

MRI Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Licensure & Certifications

ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification mandatory; no state license required.
BLS certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications as applicable.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
Physical exam within 90 days prior to start, confirming fitness to work without restrictions.
Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required).
Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer; declination accepted for mumps and rubella only.
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination.
- Varicella vaccination, documented chickenpox history, or declination.
10-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start.
Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (August 1 – March 31).
COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.

Additional Information

Radius rule: must live within 60 miles of the facility.
Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Facility uses Epic for charting.
Scrub code: teal top and black pants.
Parking is free.
Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting new or extension assignments.

Notes

Radiation badge processing can take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care until badge is received.
Orientation modules must be completed within 5 days of start.
Photo for badge must meet specific requirements and be submitted before start.
All required documents and certifications must be submitted and approved prior to start.

This position is ideal for MRI technologists with at least 2 years of experience, certified in MRI, and comfortable working varied shifts including some Saturdays in an outpatient clinic setting.
