Registered Nurse – CVPICU (Pediatric ICU / Cardiovascular)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Day/Evening shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
• 36 hours per week

Job Description

• Strong Pediatric ICU experience required
• At least 1 year of Cardiovascular (CV) experience required
• EPIC electronic health record experience required
• Telemetry test must be passed prior to start

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 1 year of CVPICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Testing & Competencies

• Must pass Pediatric Telemetry Test (assigned via LMS platform) before starting
• Telemetry test requires:

  • 80% overall score
  • 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory
• Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation required after 2nd failed attempt
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID form required
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monitored monthly
• Education verification required if applicable
• Employment application and 2 clinical references within last 3 years required
• Skills checklist required annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
• TB questionnaire required and updated annually
• Proof of Tdap vaccination (one dose from adulthood) required
• MMR: 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
• Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted
• Hepatitis B vaccination series and/or declination form required if providing direct patient care
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (flu season: Sept 22 – Apr 13)
• Drug screening required per standard (not annually)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
• Completion of communicable disease form within 90 days of start
• Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
• Acknowledgment of pass/fail telemetry testing
• Additional vaccine exemption forms (MMR, Varicella, Flu) as applicable

• Candidates with strong Level II experience may be considered
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
• Telemetry test is mandatory and must be passed before starting the assignment
