Registered Nurse (RN) Flex Pool - Days

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

Float between various medical and surgical units including Medical, Laulima (Surgical Acute), and Cardiovascular Units (rarely).
Work 12-hour day shifts from 06:45 to 19:15.
Scheduled for 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation.
No guaranteed hours.
Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for an employee health appointment on Friday.

Units and Patient Ratios

Medical Unit: 77 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)
Laulima Unit (Surgical Acute): 18 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6
Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4
Ratios may vary due to unexpected leaves.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Hawaii
Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
Stepdown unit experience
BLS certification
ACLS certification

Skills and Equipment

Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes.
Ability to float between multiple units as needed.

Orientation and Training

Orientation provided for each unit floated to.

Dress Code

Professional nursing attire; clean scrubs required.

Pros

It’s always 4 to 1 except hallways you might only have 3. The staff is so kind and welcoming I have nothing bad to say about them. This was my favorite assignment so far
