Registered Nurse – Telemetry (Night Shift)

Location: Alton, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit & Shift Details

Unit: Intermediate Care Unit (Telemetry)
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Ratios: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-call: Required
Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
Block scheduling: Not accommodated
Locals accepted if within 75-mile radius (local rate applies)
Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
ACLS certification
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Background Requirements

Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
- Statewide searches
- Nationwide and international searches if applicable
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
Illinois fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units
State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks for Illinois
Drug testing within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, oxycodone, PCP, etc. Must be current throughout assignment
Physical exam within 1 year of start
Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) required and must be renewed annually
Immunizations and health documentation:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 – Apr 1)
Required facility-specific documents: HIPAA acknowledgement, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, regulatory compliance education, TB questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy, and orientation modules

Work Hours & Scheduling

Guaranteed hours:
- 36 hours per week for 3 shifts of 12 hours
- 48 hours per week if working 4 shifts of 12 hours (if applicable)

Additional Information

Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
Candidates must have a recent badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
Candidates must adhere to all facility policies including dress code and hand hygiene
Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs
