NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Wisconsin

Job Details

  • Location: Madison, Wisconsin
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), Monday through Friday
  • Schedule: Required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Experience with g-tubes
  • Experience with trach/vent management
  • Experience with various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Wisconsin RN license or compact license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) certified
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA certified

Additional Certifications (as applicable)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - check unit requirements
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - check unit requirements

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
  • Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID form completion required prior to start
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Drug screening required per clinical standards
  • Physical exam must meet agency standards (not facility required)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Proof of Tdap vaccination (one dose from adulthood, 10-year update not mandatory)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
  • Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series with positive titer or facility-specific declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (flu season: 09/22 – 04/13)
  • Meningococcal vaccine or declination required if working in Microbiology department

Testing & Competency Requirements

  • Facility-specific Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp) required for all inpatient pediatric units including NICU
  • Adult Telemetry Test required for applicable adult specialties
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication per facility standards
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and other facility-specific training

Documentation & Other Requirements

  • Passport-style photo for badge (no selfies, headwear only for religious/medical reasons)
  • Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Safety Manual annually
  • Employment application and skills checklist required annually
  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)

This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with strong Level IV NICU skills, comfortable working night shifts and weekends, and able to meet comprehensive compliance and immunization requirements.
