• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

• Medical-surgical orthopedic/neuro unit
• 21 beds
• Telemetry monitored remotely
• Floating may include other medical-surgical units, but not the ED or Behavioral Health

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS certification
• NIHSS
• Must have a driver’s license with an address outside 50 miles from the facility
• Must disclose any background hits at time of submission
• Must submit an unexpired copy of the driver’s license
• Must be able to recognize fatal rhythms and have basic arrhythmia knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend
• Holidays as needed based on unit needs
• Attendance is very important
• 1 shift of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor

Clinical Details

• Ratios are typically 1:5 to 1:6
• Common patient types include totals, spines, occ burr holes, seizures, cranies, brain stim, traction on nights for hips, Bucks traction, and med-surg overflow
• IV drips may include heparin or Protonix, but not titrated drips or cardiac drips
• Vent support may include BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow
• Hospitalist and respiratory therapy are in-house 24/7
• No IV team
• Nurse aides are PCTs

Submission Notes

• Only one submission at a time across the entire WVU system
• Previous permanent employees must have been gone for 2 years
• Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must have been gone for 2 years
• Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
• Up to 2 candidates may be submitted per opening
