Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Surgery

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: Cardiovascular (CV) PreOp
• Number of Beds: 4
• Patient Ratio: 1:1
• Staffing: RNs supported by CNC, secretary, manager; shared with CVOR
• Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
• On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
• Floating: Within scope of practice and experience

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PreOp / PACU (Post Anesthesia Care), with at least 1 year of recent experience
• Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications

Clinical Responsibilities & Procedures

• Perform large-bore IV starts and chin-to-toe hair removal
• Medication administration and skin assessments
• Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
• Transport patients to the OR and assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin preparation
