Job Opportunity: RN - PCU (Travel)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: D3-A, A Tower, D Corridor, 3rd Floor
Number of Beds: 10 (ICU/PCU Overflow)
Patient Ratios:
- ICU: 2:1
- PCU: 4-5:1
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RNs
- Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RNs
- No unit secretaries or patient care technicians (PCTs) available
Floating Policy: Travelers will be required to float
On Call: No on-call requirements
Scheduling: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required, holiday support required
Documentation System: Cerner
Equipment: Lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), ventilators, IV pumps

Job Requirements & Skills

Specialty: Medical ICU experience in a large facility
Years of Experience Required: 2 years in specialty (RN critical care)
Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH Certification
Licenses: Registered Nurse License
Advanced Skills Needed:
- Ventilator management
- Critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
- Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Central line management
Procedures: Assist providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations
Other Requirements:
- Must be a critical thinker, flexible, and work well with others
- Comfortable with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management

Work Environment & Culture

Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs required
Patient Experience: Bedside shift report mandatory; relief charge nurse expected to perform nurse leader rounding
Additional Notes:
- Unit has advanced equipment and technology
- Staff have tenure and experience
- Schedule options include 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off
