Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Latrobe, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Rotating shifts between:

  • 4 days of 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • 5 days of 8-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
• Call schedule:

  • Weekly call, approximately every 7th or 8th weekend
  • Weekend call coverage from 7:00 AM Saturday to 7:00 AM Monday
  • Weekday call hours vary by shift length:

    • 8-hour shift call: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
    • 10-hour shift call: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form (prior to start)
• Background checks within 30 days of start, including:

  • Social Security Trace and County searches for last 7 years
  • Nationwide and Pennsylvania Statewide sex offender searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprint results (required for all candidates)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if past positive, negative chest x-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
• Drug screening: Negative 15-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Immunizations or titers within 10 years for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or accepted declination during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 1)
• Facility-specific documents to be completed prior to start, including:

  • Orientation checklist
  • Pandemic attestation
  • Code of conduct
  • Confidentiality agreement
  • Disclosure statement
  • Job description acknowledgment
  • Various training and competency assessments (e.g., patient policy, interdisciplinary plans of care, skin integrity, mobility, catheter training, cardiac procedure education for telemetry units)
• Photo for badge

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references within 3 years for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
• Annual skills checklist
• Religious or medical COVID-19 exemption documentation if applicable

• This position involves working in the Operating Room with rotating shifts and call responsibilities.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
