Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years ICU experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted only if they have 2 years ICU experience

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience with 1:2 patient ratios
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • IV therapy
  • Neurological experience
  • Respiratory/Thoracic experience

Required Certifications and Licensure

  • Must have Compact or Guam RN license at time of application (pending licenses not accepted)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association provider card required; digital certificate only)
  • BLS (American Heart Association provider card required; digital certificate only)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Conscious Sedation certification preferred
  • TCRN preferred (Trauma Certified Registered Nurse)
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP for ER)
  • Facility-specific mandatory training modules (see below)

Special Requirements

  • Passport in hand required (US passport only; Canadian passports not accepted)
  • Must be willing to work scheduled holidays
  • Return to Origin (RTO) time off must be approved and included in contract prior to start; max 3 consecutive days and 7 total days
  • Candidates must plan to arrive at least one day before start date due to long travel times and time zone differences
  • Drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams required onsite during orientation (pen and paper format; must pass with 80% or higher; two attempts allowed)
  • Fit test for specific masks required within 1 year prior to start (3M N95 masks or personal respirator with documentation)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical exemption, COVID vaccination strongly preferred (declination form required if declined)
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency)
  • Must verify last 10 years of work history; attestations accepted if verification unavailable
  • Two professional references required (for travel, allied, per diem acute care roles)

Facility-Specific Mandatory Training Modules for RNs

  • Pressure Injury Training (NPIAP)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Training (NIHSS)
  • Alaris IV Pumps
  • Pyxis CareFusion Medication System
  • Conscious Sedation (required for ICU, ER, Cath Lab)
  • Emergency Severity Index (ESI) training for ER
  • FEMA modules (completed onsite)

Uniform and Equipment

  • Scrub color: Any solid color acceptable; navy blue preferred; any color jacket allowed
  • Cath Lab/OR/PACU: Scrubs provided
  • Charting system: Allscripts/Sunrise
  • Parking: Free with registration and decal from HR

This position requires a highly skilled ICU RN with at least 2 years of critical care experience, appropriate licensure, and multiple certifications. Candidates must be flexible with shifts, weekends, and holidays, and able to complete required facility-specific training and testing. Travel logistics and documentation requirements are strict, including passport and timely arrival.
