Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry

Location

• City: Gaffney, South Carolina
• Worksite includes Cherokee Medical Center with possible float to main campus within 75 miles radius.

Employment Type

• Travel/Contract position
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
• Weekend shifts as needed
• On-call required: either 2 on-call shifts or 2 additional shifts every 6 weeks
• Floating within scope to other units on campus or nearby campus as needed
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Local candidates outside 75 miles radius not accepted

Patient Ratio

• 1 nurse to 6 patients

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina (pending license accepted if obtained before start)
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Certifications

• Must pass arrhythmia and medication dosage calculation tests on first day of orientation (two attempts allowed)
• On-call policy form required for MS/Telemetry unit

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1 and 2) required or declination form
• Drug screening within 90 days of start (10 panel including Oxycodone and Marijuana)
• Respirator medical clearance if respirator use is required (updated annually)

Testing and Orientation

• Must pass cardiac arrhythmia and medication dosage calculation tests on first day of orientation
• Shaving may be required to pass fit testing for respirator use
• Facility-specific orientation and documentation required, including photo for badge
• Attendance policy: missing more than two shifts without reasonable explanation during the 13-week contract may lead to contract review or cancellation

Documentation and Background Checks

• Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card (if used for I9)
• Proof of I9 or attestation
• E-Verify proof or attestation
• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked
• South Carolina SLED criminal records search required regardless of residency
• Education verification for highest level of education (associate’s degree or higher for RNs)
• Employment application and skills checklist updated annually
• References: 2 references within 3 years of start required

Additional Notes

• Must comply with facility’s on-call and attendance policies
• Must be able to float to other units within the facility system as needed
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Pending licenses accepted only if obtained before start date
• Candidates must include all requested time off (RTO) on initial submission; late requests will not be considered
