Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (Contract)

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide primary nursing care in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit, including 3 step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds.
Patient ratios: 1:4 in Progressive Care, 1:3 in Step-down ICU.
Duties include telemetry monitoring and strip reading, fingerstick blood sugar testing, and general acute care nursing.
Use of Meditech charting system, Pyxis medication dispensing, BIPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment.
Scheduled for 36 hours per week after orientation; no guaranteed hours; no on-call required.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Hawaii
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
Acute care experience
BLS certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

Must arrive the Thursday before assignment start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
Will float to all acute care units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and Emergency Department.
Dress code: Scrubs.

Shift Details

Scheduled 36 hours per week following orientation.
No guarantee of hours.
No call required.

It’s always 4 to 1 except hallways you might only have 3. The staff is so kind and welcoming I have nothing bad to say about them. This was my favorite assignment so far
