Unit Details

• IMU
• 18 beds
• Typical step-down type patients
• Common diagnoses include post MI with sheath pull, ADHS, post-op vascular, GI bleed, and DKA

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Ability to titrate drips
• Experience with telemetry
• Experience with BiPap and Cpap

Unit Expectations

• Ratios are 1:3
• Tele is on all patients, and RNs read strips
• One PCT per shift
• Charge nurse and house supervisor are available; under normal circumstances, charge does not take a team
• Weekend schedule is every other weekend
• Holiday schedule is about every other holiday
• No call or standby
• Float PRN
• Unit orientation is per the unit

Drips

• Nitroglycerine up to 150 mcg/kg/min
• Neo up to 100 mcg/min
• Cardene up to 10 mg/hr

Dress Code

• Royal scrubs
• Undershirts may be white, royal blue, or black
