Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30–7:00)

Job Description
- Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art 68-bed Emergency Department including super track, psych, trauma, pediatrics, and occasional hallway beds.
- Facility is a Level 3 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Regional Cardiac Center (Cath, EP, IR).
- Patient ratios strive for 1:4 or 1:5 but may vary based on staffing, census, and acuity.
- All private rooms.
- Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians (1 per pod), First-look RN, Triage RN, Charge RN, Secretary, Respiratory Therapist, Lab (occasionally), and Critical Response RN.
- Experience with drips such as TNK, Cleviprex, and Level 1 infusion for Massive Transfusion Protocol (MTP).
- Orientation includes half-day clinical orientation and half-day shadowing on unit with a nurse.
- Parking available at no charge.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Travel nursing experience.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course).
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Harassment Prevention Training.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency Contact Form prior to start.
- Background checks including 7-year work/school history, SS trace, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification.
- Annual harassment prevention training certificate (New York specific).
- Facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, welcome packet, Omnicell form, and pneumococcal declination if applicable.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; includes PPD or Quantiferon Gold (Tspot not accepted).
- Immunization or positive titer proof for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (or documented history of chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (September 1 – March 31).
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination required.
- 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable).
- Competency exams as applicable including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG (required for ER), and color blindness testing.
- Two professional references within 3 years for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles.
Additional Notes
- High acuity unit with updated patient ratios due to high patient volume.
- No block scheduling; weekend work every other weekend required.
- Locals may be accepted at a local bill rate (not included here).
