Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Unit (Night Shift)

Unit & Shift Details

  • Unit: Neuro/Ortho, Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 shifts every other weekend (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation)
  • Floating: May float within scope to other units except ICU, Step-Down Unit, and Emergency Department

Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Telemetry experience with a minimum of 2 years, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Licensure & Certifications

  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) – verify with unit specifics
  • IV Certification not required for RNs but required for LPNs/LVNs if applicable

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
  • Drug testing within 1 year, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually; facial hair must allow proper fit
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Two negative TB tests or acceptable alternatives within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Various state-specific background and registry checks as applicable

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (preferably supervisors within the last year)
  • Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required annually
  • Employment application must be completed and uploaded
  • Compliance with facility policies including HIPAA, hand hygiene, dress code, and fingernail policies
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (~16 hours) through online training platform, required annually
  • No on-call duties
  • Local radius rule: candidates must be outside a 75-mile radius (locals not accepted)
  • Return-to-Office restrictions: 7 days within the 13-week contract
