Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Tracy, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Work schedule: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (two possible shifts: 6:45 AM–5:15 PM or 8:30 AM–7:00 PM)
On-call requirement: Overnight coverage on weekdays, 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays
Specialty: Operating Room nursing with circulating experience
Clinical areas include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Spine, Urology, Robotics, OB/GYN (C-sections), Plastic Surgery
Experience with conscious sedation required

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
Experience in Orthopedics, Urology, OB/GYN, and Plastic Surgery surgical specialties
Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
Education: Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Background and Compliance Requirements

7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
Employment verification for up to 7 years required, with explanations for gaps over 30 days

Health and Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 30) or signed declination
Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids)

Additional Certifications and Competencies

May require Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) depending on assignment
Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training may be required or completed onsite during orientation

Facility-Specific Requirements

Candidate must review and sign facility policies including Standards of Business Conduct, Code of Conduct, Vendor Training, Overpayment Refund Policy, and General Regulatory Orientation prior to start
TB Screening Questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually
Photo for badge (passport-style, color, solid background) required for per diem staff
Personal or auto insurance required only for driving positions
