• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30 – 7:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Schedule: 36/36 schedule, every other weekend, no call
• Patient Ratio: 1:7 Medical-Surgical
• Float Requirement: Required to float to other units as needed

Job Description

• Provides nursing care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Expected to actively participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts beyond the work commitment may be flexed based on hospital census without penalty

Location Requirement

• Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Orientation

• General orientation begins on Sundays with online computer-based learning (CBLs)
• Orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable time

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for Tennessee-licensed candidates
• Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 14 days of start
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
• Immunizations and titers required: MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Respirator medical evaluation and fit testing completed onsite (CDC facial hair guidelines apply)
• Photo for badge must meet facility standards and be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
• Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (dress code, smoking policy, contaminated sharps exposure, influenza policy, etc.) must be completed

Certifications

• BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted)
• ACLS may be required depending on unit specifics (verify with unit description)
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC) may be preferred or required depending on unit assignment

Additional Notes

• References: Minimum 2 references preferred, 3 ideal
• Skills checklist required prior to start
• Color blindness testing required once (no annual update needed)
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
