Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 17 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a Tier 5 unit specializing in Gynecology, Urology, and Transplant surgeries.
  • Procedures include kidney and pancreas transplants, robotic surgeries (Da Vinci Xi robot), hysterectomy, nephrectomy, HOLEP, cystectomy, ureteroscopy, laparoscopic gynecology, anterior/posterior repair, abdominal hysterectomy, and organ procurements.
  • Schedule: Day/Evening shifts, 12-hour shifts (9:40 AM – 10:10 PM), Monday to Friday with weekend call.
  • Orientation for the first two weeks: Monday to Friday, 6:40 AM – 3:10 PM.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Experience in Urology and Transplant Surgery.

  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol.
  • MMR: 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
  • Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; exemptions accepted.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series and positive titer or facility-specific declination form required if providing direct patient care.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually during flu season.
  • Other vaccines or declinations as required by specific departments (e.g., Meningococcal for Microbiology).

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge must meet facility specifications (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
  • Completion of facility-specific communicable disease form within 90 days of start.
  • Signed acknowledgment of pass/fail testing if telemetry testing is required.
  • References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard).

Work Hours

  • 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week.
  • Shift times: 9:40 AM to 10:10 PM, Monday through Friday with weekend call.
